Danone is recalling Aptamil batches in Austria due to the possible presence of cereulide.

On January 31, 2026, Danone issued a public recall of infant formula from certain batches of the Aptamil product. On February 5, 2026, a recall was issued for additional batches of Aptamil and Milumil that had been sold.

The recall is a precautionary measure due to the possible presence of cereulide. Cereulide is a toxin produced by the microorganism Bacillus cereus.

The Ministry of Health has commissioned a targeted campaign to test infant formula from various manufacturers for cereulide. State food authorities will collect samples in all federal states, and the laboratory tests will be conducted by AGES.

I have this product at home—what should I do now?

If you have purchased one or more of the products listed with the corresponding lot numbers/best-by dates, do not feed them to your infants. You can return the products to the store where you purchased them. The purchase price will be refunded even without a receipt.

My baby has diarrhea/is vomiting. What should I do?

If your baby is vomiting or has diarrhea, be sure to see a pediatrician or go to the emergency room. These symptoms can lead to complications very quickly, especially in infants. It doesn’t matter what caused the diarrhea or vomiting.
