From the idea to the Programme

Projektstart „Richtig essen von Anfang an!“

The project was launched as a co-operation between the Main Association of Austrian Social Insurance Institutions (now the umbrella organisation of social insurance institutions), the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety GmbH and the Federal Ministry of Health.

• The "Austrian Beikostempfehlungen" are created and published.
• The first multiplier training course on the topic of "Nutrition during pregnancy" is held.

• Roll-out of the parents' workshop "Nutrition during pregnancy" in cooperation with ÖGK (formerly GKK): "healthy eating from the start!" multipliers inform expectant parents and interested people throughout Austria about the latest scientific findings and give practical tips for everyday life in free workshops.

• The second multiplier training course on the topic of "Nutrition for children of complementary feeding age" is being launched.

• The third multiplier training course "Nutrition during breastfeeding" is being conceptualised and implemented by the ÖGK (formerly GKK).
• The parent workshops on the topics of "Nutrition in the complementary feeding age" and "Nutrition during breastfeeding" have started. Parents and interested parties can now find out more about nutrition.

• "healthy eating from the Start!" sheds its project status and becomes a programme - intensification of cooperation between the Main Association of Social Insurance Institutions (formerly the Main Association of Austrian Social Insurance Institutions), the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety GmbH and the Federal Ministry of Health.

• "healthy eating from the start!" becomes a registered trade mark.
• The National Nutrition Commission adopts the "Nutritional recommendations for one- to three-year-old children" - these were developed as part of the "healthy eating from the start!" programme.

• The fourth multiplier training course on "Nutrition for one- to three-year-old children" is being organised.
• The parents' workshop "Nutrition for one to three-year-old children" is organised by ÖGK (formerly GKK) and thus expands the range of nutritional information for parents and relatives.
• The Austrian nutrition pyramid for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers from the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection is produced in co-operation with "healthy eating from the start!
• "Healthy eating from the start!" is now represented in the "Children, breastfeeding and pregnant women" working group of the National Nutrition Commission (NEK).

• The "Quality criteria for complementary food starter products" are drawn up and adopted by the National Nutrition Commission.

• The National Nutrition Commission adopts two further recommendations in cooperation with "Eat right from the start!": The "Austrian Recommendation for Lunch in Kindergarten" and the "Austrian Recommendation for Lunch at School".
• The "Nutritional recommendations for children aged 4 to 10" developed as part of the "Eat right from the start!" programme are adopted by the National Nutrition Commission.
• "Healthy eating from the Start" receives an award as a model of good practice as part of the EU project "Joint Action on Nutrition and Physical Activity".

• The parents' workshop on "Nutrition for four to ten-year-old children" is included in the programme of multiplier training courses.
• "healthy eating from the start!" celebrates its 10th anniversary - a time full of successes.
• "World Breastfeeding Trend Initiative Report" (WBTi) for Austria is produced in cooperation with "healthy eating from the start!".
• "Healthy eating from the start!" is now represented in the "Communal Catering" working group of the National Nutrition Commission - another important field of activity to give children access to healthy food.onal

• The "School Catering Checklist" is drawn up and adopted by the National Nutrition Commission.

• As part of "Eating right from the start!", the event "Dialogue on catering for children and young people" takes place. A complete success with over 140 participants!

• The "Austrian Nutritional Profile for the Guidance of Food Advertising to Children in Audiovisual Media" was developed by AGES as part of the "healthy eating from the Start!" programme - a recommendation of the National Nutrition Commission based on the WHO model to provide guidance for food and marketing companies.
• A stakeholder dialogue on the topic of "Promoting breastfeeding" is being held as part of the "healthy eating from the start!

• The "Austrian complementary food recommendations" are updated.
• A co-operation with the FEM-Süd project "Health and nutrition from the start" is initiated: Project employees receive, among other things, "healthy eating from the start!" training and workshop materials.
• "Healthy eating from the start!" receives the AGES Award in the SOCIETY category.

• The parent information sheet "Bottle feeding - what to look out for" is created with the participation of representatives of Frühe Hilfen Österreich and residents of a Caritas mother and child centre.

• Together with the Danube University for Continuing Education (DUW) and ÖGK, a new evaluation concept is being developed for the continuation of the successful "Eat right from the start!" - parent workshops is being developed. Elternworkshops entwickelt.
